On August 30, 2025, the winners of the 2025 MICHAEL PRIZE were honored during the 36th International Epilepsy Congress in Lisbon.
Bettina Schmitz (Chair of the Board of Trustees) and Ulrich Stephani (Chair of the Michael Foundation) presented this year's MICHAEL PRIZES to Maxime Baud for his work in the "Neurology, Neuropediatrics, Neurosurgery" category and to Sophie Adler and Konrad Wagstyl for their work in the "Imaging" category.
Maxime Baud was awarded for his research in the field of chronobiology, the study of cycles influencing the occurrence of epileptic seizures and interictal EEG discharges. He works at the Epilepsy Unit, Department of Neurology,
University of Bern, Bern (Switzerland).
Sophie Adler and Konrad Wagstyl received the 2025 Michael Prize for their outstanding contributions to advancing epilepsy imaging through artificial intelligence.
